The complete electrical system of the grinder could be replaced. All drive motors and servo motors can be replaced with the latest AC technology power units. The drive controls will be of the Siemens Sinamics type with communications between the intelligent components controlled by Profibus interfaces. A Siemens S7-PLC
formes part of the electrical upgrade, making it easy for the maintenance engineers as Siemens is a widely used platform with spares being readily available. The use of Siemens technology and the open structure of the Lismar grinder control allow the user to make changes in the functionality of the machine fairly easily.
